Spotlight on: Bulk & Specialised Shipping Award

2023 SPONSORS

The Bulk & Specialised Shipping Award recognises the work of sectors involved in the process chain which handles bulk cargoes, ro-ro or super heavy lift cargoes.

At the DCN awards last year, AAL Shipping and United Salvage received the Bulk & Specialised Shipping Award for their efforts to pull two sunken tugboats from the bottom of the Mersey River.

The tugs sunk in January 2022 after a cement carrier allided with them in the port of Devonport.

AAL Shipping’s heavy lift vessel AAL Melbourne, and United Salvage as the salvage and environmental support specialist, worked with stakeholders including TasPorts to complete a complex operation.

The supporter behind this year’s Bulk & Specialised Shipping Award is GeelongPort, which said it was proud to sponsor the award in 2023.

“A significant amount of skill and expertise is required to handle bulk cargoes – whether it is handling super heavy lift cargoes at port, or manoeuvring specialised transport at sea – and we think it is important to celebrate these unique achievements,” they said.
